How reviews work

Every review on HomeKampung comes from a real order placed through the shop. The shop cannot pick which ones appear.

Who can review

You can review the things you bought, once the shop marks your order completed. Open “Where is my order?” on the shop’s page, enter your order number and phone, and choose Leave a review. You have 30 days.

If your order was refunded, or you reported it as not received, you can review it too, and the review says so (“Order refunded”, “Not received”). An order cancelled before it was paid cannot be reviewed. One review per item per order; you can edit it once within the 30 days.

How a review is checked

The review link belongs to your order, so a review can only come from someone who placed one. It is published straight away, marked Verified order. The shop cannot approve, reject or delete it. Your name shows as your first name and initial unless you choose to show it in full.

A shop may send you the review link itself. If it does, it must ask every buyer the same way and must never offer anything in return - a discount, a gift, a refund. If a shop offers you something for a review, report it.

Reviews written before 23 October 2026, when anyone could review without an order, stay on the shop’s page and count toward its rating, but they are not marked Verified order and do not count toward a product’s rating.

If you ordered by DM and the shop recorded the order for you, you can review it too, once the shop has recorded it fully - your name and phone, the product, the payment receipt, paid and delivered. The link opens a week later. That review is marked Ordered by DM rather than Verified order, because the shop recorded the order, not you. It counts toward the shop’s rating, not the product’s.

Reporting a review

Anyone can report a published review from the shop’s Reviews page, and the shop can report one from its console. While a report is open the shop cannot hide that review. HomeKampung looks at each report and either leaves the review as it is or removes it. We aim to rule within 24 hours.

What we remove

A review is removed only when it is one of these:

  • Abuse - insults, threats or hate
  • Personal data - a phone, address, IC or someone exposed
  • Spam - advertising, links, gibberish
  • Not about this shop or order
  • Extortion - a demand in exchange for the review
  • Written by or for the seller
  • Unsafe photo - another person's face, a child, a document

We also delete a review when the person who wrote it asks us to. Each removal is recorded with its reason and date, and can be reversed if we got it wrong.

What we never remove

A review is never removed for being negative, harsh, or disputed by the shop. A shop can hide a review from its page, but a hidden review still counts in its star rating.

Fake reviews

Writing a review for your own shop, or ordering from it to review it, breaks our rules and can close the shop. If you think a shop is faking or buying reviews, report the shop from the footer of its page. Fake reviews are also an unfair practice under Singapore’s consumer protection law, which the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore enforces.

Reviews in Google search

Each product page carries its verified reviews in a form search engines can read, so Google may show a product’s stars or a review snippet next to it in search results. Star ratings and review snippets in Google search are shown at Google’s discretion: HomeKampung does not control whether, when or how Google shows them, and a product carries a rating in that markup only once it has at least three verified reviews. Google reviews of a seller’s own Google listing are Google’s, not ours.

The rules in full are in the Community Guidelines.
