How ordering works

Every shop on HomeKampung is a Singapore home business run by its owner. You buy from them directly. HomeKampung is where you find them, and where your order is recorded.

Ordering, in four steps

  1. Choose what you want

Add items to your cart, then pick self-collect or delivery and a date. Checkout shows the earliest date each option allows. A shop can ask for a few days' notice, for postage for example, and checkout checks the date against the shop's opening days as you choose it.

  2. Pay the shop directly

At checkout the shop's PayNow details appear (or a bank account, if that is what the shop uses). Pay from your own banking app. HomeKampung never holds your money and takes no cut of your order.

  3. Attach your payment screenshot

Your order is not placed until a screenshot of the payment is attached. It is stored encrypted and never on a public link. Only the shop you ordered from and HomeKampung's own operators can open it.

  4. The shop confirms

Once the shop has checked that your payment arrived, they mark the order paid and message you, usually on WhatsApp, with your order details. From then on, the shop's page can tell you where your order is.

Where is my order?

No account needed. On the shop’s page, choose Where is my order? and enter your order number and the phone number you ordered with. We ask for both because an order number on its own is not private. The shop updates the status as it goes:

  1. 1. Order received
  2. 2. Payment confirmed by the shop
  3. 3. Being prepared
  4. 4. Out for delivery / ready to collect
  5. 5. Completed

What HomeKampung does, and what it doesn’t

We do

  • List Singapore home businesses in one place.
  • Record your order and show you its status.
  • Keep your payment screenshot encrypted and off any public link (the shop and our operators can open it; nobody else).
  • Show only badges we can stand behind (see below).

We don’t

  • Process payments or hold your money.
  • Deliver, or set the shop’s prices.
  • Inspect kitchens or products.
  • Refund. That is between you and the shop.

Sellers are solely responsible for the legality, safety and compliance of what they sell, including food safety, product safety standards and any required licences. The shop is the seller of record for your purchase.

The badges

Food-safety verifiedHomeKampung’s word

A HomeKampung operator reviewed the shop’s food-safety course certificate. It is not a licence, not an inspection, and says nothing about their kitchen. Shops that do not sell food cannot earn it.

Muslim-owned (self-declared)the seller’s word

The seller ticked this themselves. Nobody has checked it, and it is not a halal certification; in Singapore those are issued by MUIS, not by us.

We do not guarantee any seller’s compliance. Your own judgement as a buyer always applies. The full trust policy says what each badge means and does not mean.

Reviews

Reviews come from orders. Once a shop marks your order completed, open “Where is my order?” on its page and choose Leave a review — you have 30 days. Your review is published straight away, marked Verified order, and the shop cannot remove it. A shop can hide a review from its page, but a hidden review still counts in the star rating. If a review looks fake or abusive, report it from the review itself and we will look at it.

Your details

At checkout we ask for your name, your phone number, a delivery address if you chose delivery, and the payment screenshot. The shop keeps them to fulfil your order and you can ask the shop to erase them. Nothing is used for marketing and nothing is sold. The privacy policy has the full list.

If something goes wrong

Message the shop first. The contact buttons on its page reach the seller directly, and most problems end there. If you hear nothing, or something looks wrong, open Where is my order?, find your order, and press Report a problem. HomeKampung sees the report straight away, asks the shop to answer within 48 hours, and can pause the shop’s checkout while it is looked at. The shop is told the reason, never who reported. Anyone can also report a shop from the footer of its page. If you leave an email we aim to reply within 2 working days. A shop can remove an order from its own list, but the order stays with HomeKampung for at least 30 days, and you can still look it up and report it.

If you paid and the shop has disappeared

HomeKampung never holds your money and cannot refund it. What we can do is stop the shop taking more payments, keep its records, and point you at the people who can act. Do these today, with your order number, the amount, the PayNow details you paid, and your screenshot:

  1. Your bank: call it now and ask about a PayNow recall; the sooner the better.
  2. ScamShield helpline 1799, or a police report online at police.gov.sg (e-services).
  3. Report it here as above, so we can pause the shop and keep what it recorded for the police.
  4. For a dispute rather than a scam (wrong item, no refund agreed), the Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) mediates, and the Small Claims Tribunals hear claims up to S$20,000.

Questions

Do I need an account?
No. You order with your name and phone number. To check an order later you use the order number and that same phone number.
Can I pay by card?
No. You pay the shop directly from your banking app, by PayNow or bank transfer, using the details shown at checkout. HomeKampung does not take card payments and never holds your money.
Is my payment screenshot safe?
It is stored encrypted and is not on any public link. Only the shop you ordered from and HomeKampung's own operators can open it. When the shop deletes the order, the screenshot is deleted with it, and it leaves our nightly backup the following night.
Why does it ask me for a date?
Shops set their own opening days and need notice to prepare — some options, like postage, start a few days after you order, and checkout tells you the earliest date before you pick. The date is checked as you choose it, so you find out before paying, not after.
What if the shop doesn't reply?
Check Where is my order? on the shop's page first; it shows what the shop has recorded. Then use the contact buttons on the shop's page. If you still hear nothing, press Report a problem on that same order: HomeKampung sees it straight away, asks the shop to answer within 48 hours, and can pause the shop's checkout while it is looked at.
Can I cancel or get a refund?
Ask the shop. Your purchase is an agreement between you and the shop, so cancellations and refunds are theirs to decide. HomeKampung does not hold your money and cannot refund it.
How do I leave a review?
Once the shop marks your order completed, open Where is my order? on its page with your order number and phone, and choose Leave a review. You have 30 days, and you can edit your review once. It is published straight away, marked Verified order, and shows your first name and initial unless you choose your full name. If the shop recorded your order for you (you ordered by DM), the review is marked Ordered by DM instead, and the link opens a week after the shop finishes recording it. If your order was refunded or never arrived, you can still review it, and the review says so. The shop cannot remove a review; ask HomeKampung if you want yours deleted. The full rules are on How reviews work (/how-reviews-work).
What does “New on HomeKampung” mean?
The shop joined in the last 30 days. While a shop is new, a single order is capped at S$150 — a limit HomeKampung sets, not the seller — so a first order with a seller nobody has bought from yet stays small. The label goes away by itself.
What is a pre-order?
A product a shop sells before the stock arrives. You pay in full at checkout, as with any order, and the expected arrival date is shown before you confirm and on Where is my order? — the shop arranges delivery or collection when the stock lands, so no date is picked at checkout. If it is delayed the shop contacts you; if it is cancelled the shop refunds you in full (HomeKampung does not hold your money). Pre-orders check out on their own, separately from in-stock items, and “not received” can be reported three days after the expected arrival.
